Mr Allaster Cox presenting certificates

International School Brunei (ISB) in Berakas marked Australia Day, which falls January 25, in the school's assembly hall yesterday. Present at the function was Mr Allaster Cox, the Australian High Commissioner to Brunei and Mr David Taylor, the Director of ISB.

The celebration was led by Australian teachers and students of the school.

The Australian national anthem was played to officially kick start the show. In addition to the variety of songs and poems presented on that day, there was also a "Wombat Stew" presentation by Year Two pupils. A ballad entitled 'Waltzing Matilda' from Year 6 pupils was also showcased.

The Australian High Commissioner awarded certificates to students in recognising their achievement in their studies. He later touched on the importance of voluntary efforts and also congratulated the students for a job well done.

The function came to a close when ISB students and audiences sang a cheerful song, "Home Among The Gum Trees".
