Shoppers at the Hua Ho Department
Store at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Shopping complex,
quite literally, shopped till they dropped! Five Standard Chartered (SCB)
credit card holders were picked from a draw for the 'Supermarket
Sweep', the highlight of the Standard Chartered bank's 'Big Swipe
Bonanza' promotion. Among those were NBT's (Brunei) General Sales
Manager, Hj Shahrom Hj Kadir and Mr Tan Liang Toon, owner of Liang
Toon Department Store.
The other three were Tan Wai Kong,
Lee Pui Man and Helena Ngu.
All were pleasantly surprised when
they were given 30 extra seconds to "grab as many goods as they
could", giving them a total of 90 seconds to shop. Special bonus
prizes such as a Sony flat screen TV, Sony digital camera and Nokia
3610 mobile phone were also up for grabs.
At the end of the day, shoppers
walked home with a grand total of $10,000 worth of goodies.
Hj Shahrom was the 'top collector'
for sweeping $3,050 worth of products while a representative of Lee
Pui Man collected a total of $2,484.
Present to witness the event among
other bank officials was the CEO of SCB, Hans Theilkuhl who presented
bonus prizes to the shoppers.
" I am very happy with the way
our supermarket sweep turned out. Hua Ho has been very supportive and,
as a result, our customers had a great time. The good news is that
everyone else can still look forward to another 2 months of everyday
rewards and yet another sweep in March," commented Ms Tiew Siew
Chuen, General Manager of Credit Cards & Personal Loans.
The crowd also played a huge role in
the challenge by cheering and laughing along with the shoppers.
