Commemorative ceremony for hero of
1962 Rebellion

The Commissioner of Royal Brunei
Police Force, Dato Paduka Seri Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Johan,
attended a recital of Surah Yaasin, Tahlil and Doa Arwah Ceremony
Friday, held at the Rangas Islamic Cemetery in Bandar Seri Begawan.
The ceremony was held in to commemorate Private 179 Selasa bin Othman
and his courageous sacrifice during the 1962 Rebellion.
Present at the ceremony were the
Police Directors, Supervisors, and Commanding officers as well as
family members of the deceased.
After the recital, the Police
Commissioner proceeded to pour the 'Air Asah-asahan' (scented water)
on the grave, led by the widow and the three children of Private 179
Selasa.
The ceremony was part of an annual
project organised by the Royal Brunei Police Force in commemorating
the four heroic warriors who defended the peace and security of the
Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam.
