About 30 participants comprising
mainly English teachers and instructors from the Ministry of
Education attended a one-day workshop organised in conjunction
with the E4BT2003 conference held recently at the Conference
Room, Institute Technology Brunei (ITB). Ms Vicki Hollett, the
Keynote Speaker for the E4BT2003 conference conducted the
workshop, according to a press release from ITB.
The workshop entitled 'Cheaper,
faster, better' focussed on the essential skills in which
business and technical learners need to thrive in international
environments, as well as practical task-based activities that
can help learners communicate more effectively across cultures.
The main objectives of the
workshop were to identify factors which contribute to the
success of an E4BT programme, determine appropriate instruments
of assessment to measure an individual's performance in an E4BT
programme and to apply any recent findings in the teaching of
E4BT to the design of ESP communication programmes.
