Brunei's Internal Security Chief
Promoted To Prime Minister's Office

Begawan - Brunei's top man at the Internal Security Department
(ISD) Awang Haji Jemat bin Haji Ampal has become a Permanent Secretary
at the Prime Minister's Office.
Before becoming ISD Director he was
Director of Research at the Foreign Ministry. He was Permanent
Representative to the United Nations previous to that.
Two others have become new Permanent
Secretaries.
Director in the Office at the
Ministry of Defence and Directorate of Strategic Planning, Pehin Datu
Kolonel Haji Mohd Yasmin Haji Ummar is now appointed as Permanent
Secretary at the Ministry of Defence.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary at the
Prime Minister's Office, Pengiran Haji Abdul Hamid bin Pengiran Haji
Mohd Yassin is now the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's
Office.
Meanwhile, a Senior Administrative
Officer at the Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Secretary to the
Council of Cabinet Ministers, Awang Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Ismail is
appointed as Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's
Office.
A statement from the Prime Minister's
Office said that by command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal
Bolkiah, "the Prime Minister's Office announces that His Majesty
has consented to the appointment of three new Permanent Secretaries
and one Deputy Permanent Secretary".
The appointments will be effective
today, January 24, 2003.
