Consumers are advised to check
the expiry dates of products packed into hampers, just in case
there are expired items unknowingly being inserted into such
packs.
Observers said consumers who
find expired goods packed in the hampers should consult the
respective establishments immediately so that they could return
the goods for replacement.
In view of the coming Chinese
New Year celebrations, many shopping establishments had packed
goods into hampers and sold them from $50 to as high as $300
each.
Observers said that it is
difficult for consumers to check the expiry date of goods inside
a well-wrapped hamper, therefore it is recommended for shops to
provide a list.
They agreed that instances
where expired products were included inside hampers have not
happened here but they have heard of such incidents occurring at
shops in neighbouring countries.
