The Library Association of
Brunei Darussalam will conduct its 9th General Meeting this
Sunday at the PM Dato Shariffuddin Theatre, National Archive
Building at 8am.
A seminar on the development of
national library collections themed "Memperkasa
Perkembangan Koleksi Perpustakaan" or "Improving the
Development of Library Collections" would also take place
that same day - after the General Meeting concludes.
The seminar is aimed at
increasing the knowledge of ICT in connection with the
management of library collections. The management as well as
procedural systems have undergone many rapid developments from
various perspectives.
Ordering procedures have
changed dramatically and its impacts towards the daily operation
of a library are important issues to be highlighted.
A number of librarians,
representatives from Islamic Dakwah Centre, Internal Security
Department, publishers and publication distributors within the
nation have been invited to attend the seminar to present their
working papers.
Among the objectives of the
seminar are; to increase the understanding regarding the
management concept and methods of developing library
collections; to facilitate the spread of library collections in
a systematic and orderly way; to develop a more detailed manner
of evaluating a particular collection; and finally to intensify
the development of library collections in more effective ways.
