Amah discharged from hospital

By Hj Minor Absah

The Indonesian amah, who was held hostage at knife-point by an intruder in a three-hour drama at Simpang 52, Kg. Mata-Mata Wednesday evening, was discharged from RIPAS Hospital. She was discharged on Wednesday night itself after receiving treatment.

When the Bulletin visited the house again yesterday, believed to be rented by a RIPAS doctor, it was found vacant.

Hospital sources said that it was an assault case where the amah suffered from stab wounds to her chest and neck. A neighbour said that at the time of the incident two kids ran away from the house and sought protection after the assailant took the amah hostage. At the time of the incident, the children's parents were not at home.

The intruder who later "surrendered" has been detained for questioning. The hostage-drama that began around 5.30 pm lasted over three hours before the intruder surrendered after some immediate family members entered the house to negotiate. A SUV later arrived at the house and drove the assailant to the hospital.
