Brunei To Celebrate Six Religious Events

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei will celebrate six religious events in the Muslim calendar throughout the year 1424 Hijrah.

The first event to be celebrated is the first Muhharam 1424.

The executive committee for the religious celebrations held a meeting yesterday at the Islamic Dakwah Centre in Kampong Pulaei to discuss the events, which include the National Level Quran Reading Competition for Adults.

Chairing the meeting was the Religious Affairs Ministry Pehin Dato Dr Ustaz Awang Haji Mohd Zain.

The six significant occasions are the New Year of Hijrah, Prophet Muhammad's birthday, Israk Mekraj celebration, the Nuzul Al-Quran celebration, Hari Raya Aidil Adha and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Apart from holding religious events in mosques, suraus and religious halls by departments and ministries, the events will also be celebrated at a national level.

The meeting also discussed matters pertaining to the National Level Quran Reading Competition for Adults in 1424 Hijrah.
