A career talk for preliminary-entry students of Pengiran Muda
Al-Muhtadee Billah College was conducted at the college's
auditorium at noon yesterday.
A total of 250 students are
undergoing a four-week orientation programme on
"pre-university college life". These students have
been selected from various secondary schools whose obtained good
forecast results for their O Level 2002 examinations, or had
previous achievements.
The career talk was presented
by a senior master career service consultant, Mr. David Foulkes
and was organised by the Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah
College's Career Services Department.
The purpose of having such a
talk was to give the students a glimpse of career opportunities
in both public and private sectors. By being able to define
their future paths, they will have a rough idea on what subjects
to enrol themselves into for their AS and A Level examinations.
Entry regulations and
prerequisites for courses available at Universiti Brunei
Darussalam (UBD) were also explained. Students were also
informed about the possibilities of pursuing their degree
programmes in 'Medicine', 'Dentistry', and 'Veterinary Science'
by enrolling themselves into twinning programmes and overseas
universities.
Scholarships from public and
private sectors would be awarded to students who obtain
excellent grades in their A Level examinations.
Yesterday's talk was organised
specifically for Science stream students while those pursuing in
the Arts and Business streams will have their career talks
today.
