The executive committee for major
Islamic events in Brunei Darussalam and the National Al-Quran
Reading Competition for the year 1424 Hijrah held a meeting
yesterday morning at the Conference Hall of the Islamic
Propagation Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The meeting was chaired by the
Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja
Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Haji Awg Mohd Zain bin Haji Serudin,
who is the head of executive committee.
Also present were Pengiran Lela
Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pg. Anak Haji Abdul Aziz, Pehin Siraja
Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Yahya bin Haji
Ibrahim, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and Pengiran
Dato Paduka Hj Yusof bin Pg Kula, the Permanent Secretary at the
Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Permanent secretaries,
directors and senior officers from government departments and
other ministries were also present.
Paperwork related to religious
programmes and occasions to be held during the major Islamic
events and the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for the
year 1424 Hijrah were discussed at the meeting.
Six major Islamic events to be
held during the new Hijrah year include the beginning of Islamic
Calendar 1424 Hijrah, the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday
Celebration, Mass Women Congregation for the Prophet's Birthday,
National Al-Quran Reading Competition, Isra' Mikraj celebration
and the Nuzul Al-Quran celebration.
The slogan for these major
religious celebrations is 'Bangsa Berilmu Negara Maju
Berteraskan Wahyu'.
