The two straws of what looks like heroin or 'brown sugar' seized
by the KB narcotics raiding parties yesterday morning.
Heroin, as we know it has
virtually ceased to exist in Brunei, but there are apparently
still traces of the retro drug in use here. Police apprehended a
family man in Kuala Belait, who was caught for alleged
possession of heroin at his residence, a drug once known as
'brown sugar' before designer drugs burst onto the scene in
recent years, allegedly for the purpose of trafficking.
In the raid conducted by eight
KB Narcotics Control Bureau officials in a KB housing area at
about 11am, two local suspects in their 40s were caught on
suspicion of drugs.
The first suspect is believed
to be at the house of the other suspect to purchase drugs and
was caught on the spot by the NCB raiding party.
The other suspect, believed to
be the peddler, was caught in the master bedroom of his house
and after a thorough search; the authorities managed to seize
two straws of heroin, a small packet of cannabis, seven maroon
tablets believed to be codeine and a few identified capsules in
a toiletry bag.
It was told that the alleged
suspect intended to sell the heroin stick at $100 each. Police
said the suspect had consumed the heroin by using a sniffing
method commonly known as 'chasing the dragon'.
The suspects were brought to
the Narcotics Control Bureau for interrogation and
statement-taking.
