Foreigner's alleged suicide bid in vain

A foreign national allegedly tried to commit suicide by slashing his throat as he couldn't bear the harassment from alleged loan sharks.

The man, in his 30s, cut his throat with a sharp object until he started bleeding and jumped into the sea at Pantai Muara on Tuesday.

But his attempt was foiled by the Marine Police who were around the area at the time. They plucked him off the waters and rushed him to RIPAS Hospital.

Hospital sources last night confirmed that the foreign national has been admitted with wounds to his throat. He is reported to be in stable condition.
