Freedom Certificates For Former Drug Abusers Issued

Bandar Seri Begawan - In an effort to assist the people who have successfully completed the Supervision Scheme of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the bureau has issued a special support letter to enable them to hold positions, which are relevant with their academic qualification and working experience either in the private sector or the government departments.

NCB Deputy Director Dayang Hajah Shirin stressed this at the presentation of freedom certificates for persons under the supervision of the bureau.

Dayang Hajah Shirin says the letter issued to the participants of the scheme proves commitment and strong support from the government to accept them back into the community.

At the ceremony, a total of 79 people including seven females who had successfully completed the Supervision Scheme of the Narcotics Control Bureau received their certificates.

The participants released yesterday are between 17 and 50 years of age.

The Supervision Scheme Programme is designed for two years.

During the year, they will be judged on their development from time to time including attendance and discipline.

They are to report for a urine inspection and surprise inspection will also be conducted at their house or places of duty.
