Brunei-Britain Defence Meet Starts

Bandar Seri Begawan - The first Joint Commission for the Defence Cooperation Meeting between Brunei and the United Kingdom was held yesterday.

The meeting is the outcome of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the establishment of the Joint Commission between His Majesty's government and the government of the United Kingdom, which took place in the sultanate last year.

The agenda of the meeting covered the discussion pertaining to the existing arrangements between both countries involving various defence activities and cooperation such as trainings, exercises and other defence related matters.

The Permanent Secretary of Defence, Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul Rahman, led Brunei while Air Vice Marshal Lt Gen David Hobart, Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff Policy, UK Ministry of Defence, led the United Kingdom.
