Man fined for possessing obscene article

Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri yesterday fined a 31-year-old man, Song Vui Siong, of $500 or a month in jail after he pleaded guilty to having an obscene article in his possession. Song pleaded guilty to the charge for having in his possession of the said article that contained scenes of men and women in the act of sexual intercourse; for him, to wit, 2 obscene VCD's.

The Police Prosecuting officer said penalty under this offence is a minimum fine of $500 and the maximum is $5,000 meanwhile jail term may extend to 2 years.
