The Haj Affairs Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs yesterday held a brief session about the fifth obligation in Islam, which is the 'Haji' and 'Umrah' for the Haj pilgrims this year. This practical training session is being held for the 7th time in the country since last year.

January 12, 2003 is the last day for all Haj pilgrims to attend the event. It was told that there are approximately 1,000 Haj pilgrims fulfilling the Haj and Umrah this year. The first flight of Haj pilgrims will depart on January 19 this year.

The event held yesterday was aimed at preparing the haj pilgrims through practice in order to smoothen their obligatory task while in Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, it was an opportunity for the Haj pilgrims to enquire about the Haj and Umrah aspects before they reached the Holy Land.

Some of the demonstrations conducted yesterday were the appropriate method to kiss the 'Hajar Aswad' and to walk around the ka'abah.

The practical session was held at the Indoor Stadium, Berakas.

Every Haj pilgrims is required to hold a "Doa Selamat" ceremony at their residence before they depart for the Holy Land.
