Residents at the National
Housing Plan Schemes of Kampong Mentiri and Kampong Rimba,
Gadong were yesterday filled with excitement over the visit of
His Majesty the Sultan And Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The young and old stood in line
to enthusiastically greet His Majesty, who made the occasion
even more memorable by presenting house keys and land lots to
the participants of National Housing Plan Schemes of Kampong
Menteri and Kampong Rimba, Gadong.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was
greeted by Pehin Haji Isa, the Special Adviser to His Majesty
cum Minister of Home Affairs, Dato Dr. Awang Haji Ahmad, the
Minister of Development, and the Brunei-Muara District Officer
Dato Paduka Haji Harun.
The event began with the
recital of Surah Al-Fatihah by an official of Brunei-Muara
District Syariah Court. Later welcoming remarks were made by
Brunei-Muara District Officer Dato Paduka Haji Harun.
There were a total of 291
recipients - 162 participants from the National Housing Plan of
Kampong Rimba Level 1 phase 1; 70 from National Housing Plan of
Kampong Mentiri Level 4; 31 from the National Housing Plan of
Kampong Mentiri Level 5; 31 for land lots at the National
Housing Plan of Kampong Mentiri and 23 for land lots at the
National Housing Plan of Kampong Rimba.
After the presentation
ceremony, His Majesty toured the Dato Mohd Yassin Primary School
where he asked some students and staff members about their
studies and other school matters. His Majesty also planted a
tree to mark his visit. Loud beatings of Hadrah by students also
spiced up the event.
Later, His Majesty visited the
mosque at the National Housing Plan of Kampong Mentiri where he
prayed with officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
His Majesty then went to the
house of Ketua Kampong Area 1, National Housing Plan of Kampong
Mentiri, Pengiran Haji Aliuddin bin Pengiran Haji Damit and the
home of the Ketua Kampong Area 2, National Housing Plan of
Mentiri, Awang Haji Sulaiman bin Ja'afar.
His Majesty also visited the
houses of two land lots recipients, SSjn (B) Tengku Zainal bin
Tengku Hassan and Pengiran Haji Abidin bin Pengiran Haji
Matarsad.
His Majesty also visited two
house keys awardees, Awang Mohamad Azmi bin Abdullah and Awang
Haji Ansamawi bin Haji Tengah who are staying in type 'C'
houses.
His Majesty's itinerary also
included a tour of Mengkabau Water Treatment Plant, Water
Treatment Plant at Kampong Mentiri and light industries at
Simpang 557, Kampong Salar, BINA such as Fashion Furniture and
Construction Co. Sdn Bhd lot 39-42 and Timbertech Sdn Bhd Lot
43-44.
