No Basis For Complaints On Higher
Salaries For Foreign Educated Staff, Says Minister
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Grievances over difference in teachers salaries
between overseas university qualified graduates and those from
Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) have no basis in precise accuracy.
Education Minister Pehin Dato Awang
Haji Abdul Aziz gave the assurance in an exclusive interview with
Radio Television Brunei (RTB) yesterday.
Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul Aziz said
this issue in differences in salary scale is not completely
accurate and it is an old complaint.
Before, there were more overseas
graduates than those from UBD.
According to regulations, the
Education Ministry could only take in teachers as according to budget constraints. At that time ministry had
limited allocation for B2-EB3 and G13 and both were still within the Division II scale.
If this salary scales were filed up,
the Education Ministry had to use other scales available.
But now, with the consent of His Majesty
Sultan of Brunei, 515 new BD-EB3 posts have been created making it
possible to allocate the appropriate salaries equally.
