By Azim Ghani and Aziz Idris

Bandar Seri Begawan - B2br won the group category of the Suci Brand and CITYNEON Move It Dance Showdown! Com petition held at the conference hall at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in conjunction with the Aungerah RTB 2009 yesterday afternoon. The dance competition was divided into three categories: solo, group and freestyle. Initially, 12 groups took part in the preliminary rounds, which were held on Friday and Saturday, but only five teams qualified for the finals.

The winner in the group category, B2BR, won a cash prize of BND$500, including a trophy and certificate, followed by the Majestic Crew and Epic Rhythm who won second and third place respectively.

Taking home the consolation prizes were KB rockers and Rhythm Fusion. An eight year-old Filipino boy, born in Brunei, Cliff Gerald, took home the first prize in the freestyle category. He was also the youngest dancer in the competition.

During an interview with Zul, one of the dancers from the Epic Rhythm, he said that they would like to gain more exposure in the dancing scene, which is seen gaining more popularity in the country.

One of the judges from Relentless Entertainment said, "Dancing is a passion to some, and we are here to help recognise it by organising such an event. It is another way of keeping our youth from doing unproductive things such as drugs or any criminal activities."

The event also showcased the multi-talented dance group from Activ8 as the guest performers at the event. According to the organisers, a similar competition will be held at a later date.   -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
