Tanjong Maya And Rambai Residents Receive Minister's Follow-Up Visit
By Syafiq Affendy

Bandar Seri Begawan - Residents of the areas worst-hit by the recent flashfloods, which completely cut off land routes, received a follow-up visit from Minsiter of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaye Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohd Yusof yesterday morning.

Accompanying the minister on his visit to Mukim Tanjong Maya and Mukim Rambai to monitor completed and on-going recovery efforts done by government and non-government organisations (NGOs) was Penghulu of Mukim Rambai, Khairul Nurul Arsyadi Abd Malek.

The minister first visited Panchong Primary School, Tutong H, which had to be closed due to floods on February 10. Immediate recovery works were organised and the school was reopened the next day.

Next, the minister visited a planned alternate path during floods from Jalan Sulap Samat to Benutan Reservoir, followed by a brief get-together with Kg Benutan Residents at the village's community ball.

Several homes were visited by the minister, who saw first hand the damage caused by the floods.

The minister said during an interview that he was delighted that a large number of volunteers from government and non-government organisations such as Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Belia Cinta Tanah Air programme participants, HSBC, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB), PEMBELA and several other associations, were lending a helping hand.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
