Brunei, Japan Discuss Possible Project Under ‘Heart Of Borneo’

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei's Deputy Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Dato Paduka Awang Hj Hamdillah bin Hj Abdul Wahab, yesterday held discussions about the 'Heart of Borneo' (HoB) project with Japan's Senior Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yoshitaka Shindo.

During his visit to the the Biological Resource Centre of the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (N ITE) in Japan, Dato Paduka Awang Hj Hamdillah talked about bilateral cooperation on a planned "Exploration of Microbial Resources Project" under the HoB project in the Sultanate.

The long-term project will use microbes to produce industrial products, such as medicine, health food and other environmental products. It is hoped that this imitative would help preserve Brunei's valuable resources and help diversify its economy. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
