STPRI Celebrates National Day
By Zasika Musdi
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri yesterday held
a celebration to mark the 24th National Day.
Present as the guest of honour was
Pg Hj Zahari bin Pg Hj Ahmad, the principal of Sultan Omar Ali
Saifuddien College. According to STPRI's acting principal, Cikgu Hjh
Nuramalina bte Mohd Ariff, yesterday's event would "open the
curtains" to more healthy collaborative activities between STPRI and
SOASC.
Touching on the National Day's
theme `Tunas Bangsa' or `Brunei's Youth', she said that the
students, as the youth of the nation, are being educated towards the
strengthening of the nation.
Without a doubt, the entity that
plays a big part in their education is the teachers where the two
share a symbiotic bond that cannot be separated.
This, in turn, will borne a
generation of hope, with the ability to think on their feet and
compete in the aggressive era of globalisation.
Many activities were lined up
making the day more joyous such as stage performances done by both
schools including singing Berkibar Bendera Kita' by STPRI's choir,
traditional dancing of `Joget Seri Kenangan' and 'Joget Kapal
Belayar' as well as drama performances.
Apart from stage performances,
mental stimulating games to test students' creativity were also
organised like inventing bookmarks, posters and quizzes.
Some 700 participants have taken
part since early February and the winners were presented with their
prizes yesterday.
The event was organised by the
school's Geography and Economics department. -- Courtesy of Borneo
