By Za'im Zaini

Bandar Seri Begawan - The main challenge of society - particularly youths who have graduated from schools - is to contribute their services to the country. In this respect, youths need to be ready to serve an organisation or explore self-employment.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports cum guest of honour Dato Paduka Hj Jemat bin Hj Ampal, said this in his speech during the closing ceremony of the 4th National Skills Competition 2008, which was held at Nakhoda Ragam Vocational School yesterday.

"I believe that with the talent and potential available as well determination, it is not impossible for the participants to become entrepreneurs or owners of successful companies. This will surely assist in the development of the economy of the nation," he added.

Youths play an important role in the development and progress of the nation through providing quality service.

Speaking on the event, he said, "The success of the participants not only reflects the determination to achieve victory, but it also shows the talents, achievements as well as signs of potential for further growth. The participants can be seen as role models for society."

Meanwhile, in his welcoming speech, 4th National Skills Competition Chairman of the Executive Committee cum Technical Education Acting Director Noohaizamdin bin Hj Mosbi said, "This year, there were 71 participants who took part in 13 skills field competition."
