Awards For 4th Skills Competition

Begawan - The main challenge of society - particularly youths
who have graduated from schools - is to contribute their services to
the country. In this respect, youths need to be ready to serve an
organisation or explore self-employment.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry
of Culture Youth and Sports cum guest of honour Dato Paduka Hj Jemat
bin Hj Ampal, said this in his speech during the closing ceremony of
the 4th National Skills Competition 2008, which was held at Nakhoda
Ragam Vocational School yesterday.
"I believe that with the talent and
potential available as well determination, it is not impossible for
the participants to become entrepreneurs or owners of successful
companies. This will surely assist in the development of the economy
of the nation," he added.
Youths play an important role in
the development and progress of the nation through providing quality
service.
Speaking on the event, he said,
"The success of the participants not only reflects the determination
to achieve victory, but it also shows the talents, achievements as
well as signs of potential for further growth. The participants can
be seen as role models for society."
Meanwhile, in his welcoming speech,
4th National Skills Competition Chairman of the Executive Committee
cum Technical Education Acting Director Noohaizamdin bin Hj Mosbi
said, "This year, there were 71 participants who took part in 13
skills field competition."
The participants are from Sultan
Saiful Rijal Technical College, Jefri Bolkiah Engineering College,
Nakhoda Ragam Vocational School, Sultan Bolkiah Vocational School
and Mechanical Training Centre.
"We hope that through the
competition, we can develop the skills, work quality and knowledge
among local instructors and the local workforce in the country," he
added.
The guest of honour presented
medals to 39 recipients and later toured the exhibition. -- Courtesy of Borneo
