Yayasan Offers $14,950 In Contributions

Bandar Seri Begawan - Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) yesterday presented $14,950 in contributions to the Ex-Army Association (Brunei-Muara District branch) and the UBD Institute of Medicine during a ceremony held at the Yayasan headquarters in Jalan Kumbang Pasang.

On hand to present the contribution was Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Managing Director Dato Paduka Haji Ali Hashim bin Haji Daud.

Receiving the contribution on behalf of the Ex-Army Association was PWI (B) Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mohamad, the Chairman of Acara-Acara Keriaan 2007 - 2010 Ex-Army Association, in his capacity as chairman of the Syair Se-Negara competition, which was held in conjunction with the National Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, on hand to accept the contribution on behalf of UBD Institute of Medicine was its Acting Deputy Dean Dayangku Dr Nurolaini binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Kifli.

Yayasan contributed $5,400 to the Syair Se-Negara competition. The finals of the competition will be held at the Balai Sarmayuda of the Language and Literature Bureau tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Yayasan also contributed two sponsorships to the Institute of Medicine. A sum of $5,000 was contributed to produce the publication of Volume II of the institute's annual journal, the Brunei Darussalam Journal of Health. Contents of the book include researches in clinical medicine, public health, biomedical sciences and medical education.

A sum of $4,550 was contributed as sponsorship for the 3rd Annual Academic Session 2008.

Present to witness the ceremony were the assistant managing director and senior officers from Yayasan.

From time to time Yayasan supports and assists non-government organisations as well as higher learning institutions in organising research programmes and the development of scientific advancements, technologies and communities.

Yayasan will also voluntarily assist organisations in carrying out activities for community development. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
