Celebrations End
By James Kon
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Brunei Darussalam's 24th National Day celebrations
officially came to a close yesterday as the giant national flag,
which was hoisted on February 10, was lowered during a ceremony at
the open area of the Yayasan Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.
With the accompaniment of music
performed by the Royal Brunei Police Force Band and patriotic songs
by the Brunei Darussalam National Choir, the huge national flag
measuring 24 feet by 12 feet was gently lowered from the 110-feet
flagpole by 20 personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy before it was
neatly and carefully folded.
The flag was handed over to the
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sports, Dato
Paduka Hj Jemat bin Hj Ampal, in his capacity as the chairman of the
organising committee of the ceremony.
This year's National Day
celebration was themed "Tunas Bangsa" or Nation's Youth. -- Courtesy of Borneo
