Immigration Raid Nets 12 Offenders

Begawan - Twelve foreign nationals were detained, nine others
were issued with special passes and three employers were issued
summons during the latest raid, Ops Pintas 31/2007.
At a school canteen in Kg
Perpindahan Lambak Kanan it was found that two canteen workers had
been misusing their visit passes and not holding valid health
certificates.
While in another area near Kg
Mulaut, it was discovered that some workers were misusing their work
passes and doing some other work not stated in their work passes.
Fifteen officers from the law
enforcement unit, led by Senior Immigration officers, raided nine
targets suspected to be harbouring illegal workers.
The four-hour operation covered
supermarkets, restaurants, parking lots, cake houses and canteens in
Mukim Berakas, Mulaut And Gadong.
The law enforcement unit has found
out that there are still some foreign nationals who are misusing
their immigration passes and working while on social visits.
The Department of Immigration and
National Registration has urged the public to report any suspicious
immigration offences to immigration personnel at 3331879/ 3341938,
or 2383555 or 2383777 during office hours. All information will be
