Adopting Good Practices In The
Refrigeration Sector

Begawan - Sixteen technicians from Nakhoda Ragam Vocational
school, Jefri Bolkiah College of Engineering (MKJB), the Ministry of
Health and BSP are currently attending Phase I of the 'National
Train-the-Trainer's Workshop On Good Practices in the Refrigeration
Sector' training programme.
The training programme comes
following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between Brunei
Darussalam and the United Nations Environment Programme, Regional
Office for the Asia and the Pacific (UNEP ROAP) in October last
year.
The training is organised as a
collaborative effort between the Department of Technical Education,
Ministry of Education, and the Department of Environment, Parks and
Recreation, Ministry of Development and UNEP.
It is specially designed and
targeted for technicians with the objective of reducing emissions
and consumption of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) in the
refrigeration sector by improving the servicing procedures for
refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment.
The five-day training programme -
which concludes on February 29 - at MKJB is facilitated by the
Refrigeration Management Plan (RMP) Implementation Officer and a
Regional expert from UNEP ROAP
The training programme is
implemented in two phases: Phase I is where a group of selected
refrigeration trainers and senior technicians is trained as trainers
by an RMP Implementation Officer and the Regional Expert from UNEP
ROAP
Phase II sees trained trainers from
the Phase I programme subsequently training a further 300
refrigeration technicians and other important stakeholders from the
public and private sector.
