By James Kon

Tutong - About 303 primary students throughout the Sultanate yesterday participated in the Sixth Primary School Science Olympiad 2008 at Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College and Sayyidina Othman Secondary School in Tutong.

The Olympiad was organised by the Science, Technology and Environment Partnership Centre (STEP Centre), Ministry of Education with cooperation from the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd.

About 72 government and 24 non-government schools, as well as four schools from the Ministry of Religious Affairs took part in the competition.

This year's competition format was different from the previous years where all the students only had to sit for one round.

The objectives of the competition are to improve the competence of the students in science, to nurture talent and develop interest in the subject, as well as to motivate them in developing their intellectual capacity and skills. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
