Educating Youths With Al-Quran
Morals
By Za'im Zaini
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Preparation such as knowledge, education, guidance,
training and exposure is necessary to fulfil youths' ambitions (with
al-Quran morals) and at the same time to assist them in facing
challenges to fulfil future agendas.
This was stated yesterday by Dato
Paduka Awg Hj Abdul Rahman bin Hj Mohiddin, Permanent Secretary at
the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the guest of honour, at the
closing ceremony of the Islamic understanding seminar, themed "Tunas
Bangsa Berakhlak Al-Quran" or Nation's Youth Moral Based on the Al-Quran,
at the Islamic Dakwah Centre.
"We have high expectations on
youths and it is not fair to mention those expectations and
ambitions in words," he said.
"'Youths carry heavy
responsibilities and at the same time are associated with negative
issues such as bad behaviours, as well as activities against
tradition, rules and customs.
"They are an easy target because of
their age and are easily influenced and exploited," he said.
However, the permanent secretary
also urged government institutions, society, families and youth
associations to help overcome such issues.
Dato
Paduka Awg Hj Abdul Rahman also asked if programmes available in the
country that can attract youth participation are enough.
He also said that education through
the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Religious Affairs help
produce knowledgeable and pious citizens, while the Ministry of
Culture, Youth and Sports brings youths in line with the aspirations
of the country.
He added that a successful Bruneian
youth is one with al-Quran morals. -- Courtesy of Borneo
