Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei Shell Marketing Company (BSM) Sdn Bhd yesterday held its 4th Chairman Awards Night at the Royal Berkshire, Jerudong Park and Polo Club to honour the management and staff of outstanding petrol stations in the country.

Petrol stations nationwide took part in the "Role Model Station" programme, which encouraged the management and staff of petrol stations to provide top-notch services.

The Chairman Award went to nine petrol stations this year — one under the 'Platinum' category, five under the ‘Gold’ category and three under the 'Silver' category.

The 'Platinum' winner was Stesen Minyak Perusahaan Cahaya Pakatan Tutong, while the `Gold' winners were IBA Petrol Station & Trading, Stesen Minyak & Servis Berakas, Roxana Shell Service Station, Stesen -Minyak Penyurat H A Bakar Bin Jambol and Koperasi Perniagaan & Perusahaan Melayu Seria.

The three winners under the 'Silver' category were Syarikat Amanah Hj Abdullah, Stesen Minyak Koperasi Kg Keriam and Syarikat Stesen Minyak Telisai.

The event also honoured the top three performers in the "LPG Distributors League Programme" and top ten cooperatives.

Prizes were presented by the guest of honour, Pehin Dato Awang Hj Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office cum Chairman of BSM Board of Directors.

Earlier, BSM Managing Director Pg Hj Yasmin bin Pg Hj Mohamad lauded all BSM staff members, contractors, business stations and LPG distributors for their hard work and dedication.

He pointed out that BSM had passed the six-year mark without any accidents.

He hoped that other petrol stations in the country would follow the example set by the "Role Model Station" winners.

According to a press release from BSM, 2008 holds many more challenges for petrol stations to meet the increase in customer demand.

Furthermore, petrol stations will have to fully comply with the directive on the sale of petroleum products issued by the Energy Division of the Prime Minister's Office, as well as the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures by March 3.

Also attending last night's event was Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Pg Dato Paduka Hj Abu Bakar PSI Pg Hj Ismail, dealers, distributors, senior government officials and staff members of BSM. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
