Call For Joint Efforts To Guide Youths On Religion
By Za'im Zaini

Bandar Seri Begawan - Several resolutions were passed yesterday at the closing ceremony of the Islamic understanding seminar themed "Tunas Bangsa Berakhlak Al-Quran" at the Islamic Dakwah Centre.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Hj Mohiddin, was guest of honour at the closing ceremony.

One of the resolutions called on all parties including parents, educators, social workers, preachers and youth programme planners to assist in building a generation of healthy and pious youths.

In safeguarding the aqidah, youths are urged to be careful in all their behaviour and not to be easily influenced by teachings being spread discreetly.

The resolutions also called on youths to guide their peers, who have problems, towards doing beneficial activities.

Youths who face the problems of stress are urged to discuss their problems with their peers as well as to turn to their parents by maintaining a close relationship and communicating.

Parents are urged to set a good example for their children to follow in performing prayers.

The obligation of prayers needs to be instilled in the youths in hopes that it will not be neglected by the next generation, the resolutions said.

The resolutions said every youth must be instilled with understanding and appreciation of Islam. They must also preserve their customs and traditions; and achieve their ambitions and hopes.

The youths also must make an effort to join associations, be involved in "knowledge" conventions, act swiftly and make the best decisions.

At the end of the course, the guest of honour presented certificates to the participants.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
