Fuel Smuggler Fined $6,000

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Malaysian who attempted to smuggle 420 litres of diesel fuel out of the country was yesterday slapped with a $6,000 fine.

The court was told that Wong Ing Ang, 45, attempted to smuggle the fuel, which was kept inside modified tanks, through the Sg Tujuh Customs Control Post on November 15, 2007.

The seized fuel and the defendant's vehicle were forfeited to the state.
