40 Religious Teachers Attended SEU Course

Bandar Seri Begawan - Forty religious teachers attended a one-day special education course at the Special Education Unit (SEU), Ministry of Education in Gadong yesterday.

Organised by the Committee of Headmasters and Head of Religious Teachers for Area Brunei 1, the training was conducted by three SEU officers: Cikgu Bukit bin Hidup, Cikgu Hjh Norbayah bte Haji Shahminan and Cikgu Hjh Zaitun bte Haji Damit.

During the course, the teachers were exposed to quality services and programmes that enable students with special education needs to reach their fullest potential and to become contributing members of the society.

Meanwhile, the participants were also briefed on programmes and services, undertaken by the SEU, including the Learning Assistance Programme, the Pre-Vocational Programme, and the Enrichment Programme.

According to Cikgu Shahrin Haji Abdul Razak, Head of Staff Development, the Committee of Headmasters and Head of Religious Teachers for Area Brunei 1, it is hoped that the course will enable the teachers to "identify students with special needs so we can provide them with proper education". -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
