Project To Help Low-Performing
Schools

Begawan - The Department of Schools Inspectorate is in
session for the `Helping Low-Performing Schools' project.
Terry Bates and Mary Sinclair,
consultants from Cognition Consulting Limited New Zealand, will be
guiding and advising the participants to achieve improvement in
accordance with the Department strategic Plan 2007-2011.
Officers from the Inspectorate and
from the Primary Section, Department of Schools, and principals are
attending the five-day programme.
They will be provided with the
expertise and knowledge on the achievement of schools and its
students; guidance services to schools and clients on planning and
suggestions; analysing data; and guiding school administrators in
defining, executing, reporting, reviewing and appraising the School
Development Plan.
The project expects to get an
improvement in skills and determining content for needs analysis and
data interpretation; have enough knowledge and skills to get to the
root of the problem of low-performing schools; come up with a
workable plan for schools that are part of the case study; come up
with a framework model template to tackle problems; fortify the
capacity of course participants and aid in efforts to improve the
schools concerned.
Today, participants will be
visiting two schools in Kampung Ayer-Sekolah Rendah PAP Besar and
Sekolah Rendah Saba Darat-as part of their case study.
The Department of Schools
Inspectorate is committed to providing high quality assessment
services It is responsible for assessing and reporting the quality
of education prepared by educational institutions.
The five-day project will end on
