Briefing On National Vision 2035

- Brunei Darussalam's long-term development plan was
explained in a briefing hosted by the Economic Planning and
Development for heads of villages and longhouses in the Belait
District office yesterday morning.
Under NDP 2007 - 2012, the
government has allocated $9.5 billion to execute 826 projects in
five years, said Acting Director of Economic Planning Awang Amin bin
Haji Hashim.
The core development under the NDP
2007 -2012 is to widen the economic basis and strengthen the economy
centred on knowledge; speed up social development and uphold social
stability; increase the number of skilful work resources and build
up the institution's capacity.
The Belait District is facing
various developmental changes which include the installation of
public lightings; construction of more public housing; road
expansion and others which cover development in the forestry
industrial, electrical, drainage and extension of sewerage
construction.
Chaired by the Belait District
Officer Awang Haji Mohamad bin Haji Abd Rahman, the briefing
provided insights on Wawasan Brunei 2035 (Brunei's National Vision
2035) for chiefs and heads of villages, who act as the government's
eyes and ears. They will share the information to villagers.
Wawasan
Brunei 2035 (Brunei's National Vision 2035) has eight identified
strategies namely education, economics security, institutional
development, local business development, infrastructural
development, social security and the environment.
To achieve Brunei's National Vision
2035), thousands of projects under the National Development Plan (NDP)
will be executed for 30 years through three components of strategies
and policies for development (OSPD) and 10 years for each OSPD which
will support the objectives of the vision.
The OSPD component has six series
in the first five years of NDP. The first OSPD is included in the
NDP 2007-2012, which is currently in progress.
