Universities' Conference Of Student Leaders Begins Tomorrow

Begawan - University student leaders from Asean countries
will meet in a conference to empower the leadership of the students
in becoming an asset to the university and country.
An estimated 200 local and regional
student leaders will participate in the Asean Universities Student
Leaders Conference from February 26-28 at the Universiti Brunei
Darussalam (UBD).
The third of its kind to be
organised at UBD, the conference seeks to strengthen relationships
and cooperation among university student leaders in the Asean
region, as well as gather the student leaders in one leadership and
intellectual forum.

Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin
Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Yusof was expected to launch
the conference, themed 'Empower University Student Associations in
the ICT Era.'
Working papers at the conference
include student leaders as role models, transformation of student
leaders in the 21st century, challenges of student leaders towards
the so-called information communications technology era.
Participants will also discuss how university student associations
can play the role of agents in changing the mindset of students.
Meanwhile, UBD's Sultan Hassanal
Bolkiah Institute of Education will organise a forum on counselling
and management of discipline in schools on Wednesday.
Hj Ali
Yusri Hj Ghafor of the Ministry of Education's Counselling and
Career Guidance Unit has been invited to share his experiences in
this particular area.
It is hoped that the dialogue
session would shed light on issues pertaining to the topic and
generate a discussion of possible strategies to tackle such
problems.
The objectives of the forum include
providing a platform for educational practitioners to share ideas
and opinions to improve education in Brunei.-- Courtesy of
