Deputy Permanent Secretary Launches National Programme In Muara

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Belia Cinta Tanah Air 2008 national programme was launched by Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Hj Mohd Daud Hj Malunud, at the residence of Mukim Serasa's Acting Penghulu, Hj Hassan Jeruddin.

In spite of the rain, some 20 youths under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports from all four of the country's districts marched with flags from Muara Town heading towards the acting penghulu's residence at Kg Serasa in Muara. The ceremony then began with the hoisting of the national flag, as well as performances of the national anthem and patriotic songs by Kg Serasa's Consultative Councils. The event's guest of honour also inspected the parade of youths.

The recitations of Surah al-Fatihah and doa selamat were read by Imam Hj Ridi Hj Midi. The Kg Serasa Consultative Council later held a penchak silat show for guests. According to the acting penghulu, the youths will be staying with their respective foster families for four days as part of the programme.

The itinerary for them include making traditional Malay cakes, joining a Berjemaah event at the Masjid Utama Setia Ali in Pekan Muara, cleaning cemeteries, as well as visiting the Royal Brunei Navy at its Muara base and attending the Kuliah Suboh. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
