Iran Keen To Boost Ties With
Brunei

Begawan - Pehin Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Brunei's
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II, met his counterpart
Manouchehr Mottaki, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Islamic Republic of
Iran at the Foreign Minister's Office in Tehran, on Saturday, a
press release from Brunei's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
Pehin and Mottaki discussed
bilateral relations between the two countries including ways to
enhance bilateral ties and various identified areas of cooperation
that can be development by both countries. Pehin Lim and Mottaki
also exchanged views on regional and international issues. The
meeting was part of the programme arranged for Pehin's visit to the
Islamic Republic of Iran from February 21-24.
Also present during the meeting
were Pengiran Haji Sahari Pengiran Haji Salleh, Ambassador of Brunei
Darussalam to the Islamic Republic of Iran and officials from the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
"Given the capabilities of Iranian
companies in the oil and gas sectors, construction of factories,
dam-building and auto manufacturing, Iran is keen on implementing
joint projects with Brunei," Mottaki was quoted as saying by the
Iranian news agency (IRNA) during the meeting with Pehin Lim.
He also said the upcoming OIC
Summit will shoulder a heavy responsibility to counter an anti-Islam
propaganda campaign.
He added that Muslim states will
seriously defend their sanctities during the upcoming Summit of
Leaders of the Organisation of Islamic Conference member states to
be held in Senegal. Senegal is expected to take over OIC presidency
from Malaysia.
On reopening of Iran's embassy in
Brunei, he said Iran is ready to boost all-out ties with Brunei.
Expressing his satisfaction with
his current visit to Tehran, Pehin Lim said he held fruitful
meetings with several Iranian officials.
Pehin Lim voiced his country's
interest to bolster bilateral cooperation with Iran, particularly in
the areas of energy, investment and tourism.
He referred to the upcoming OIC
meeting in Senegal as a good opportunity for helping the Muslim
community across the world to introduce the real picture of Islam.
"The OIC meeting is an important
opportunity for Muslim countries to show the true image of Islam,"
