Student Wins At International Oratory Competition

Begawan - Universiti Brunei Darussalam student, Malai Yunus
Malai Yusof, garnered the third place in the finals of the regional
category, of "The Malay Language International Oratory Competition
2008" held in Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia on
Friday.
Having entered the final round of
the competition with the highest mark, Malai Yunus, 38, lost the top
two positions to Sujarhadi, 24, a native of Indonesia, and a
Malaysian finalist, Farhan Nor Diayana Samsudin, 21, who bagged
first place.
However, Malai Yunus said he was
happy to come in third as he was competing with university students
of the highest calibre.
"To come first in the semi-finals
and third in the final round is an achievement especially at a time
when we are celebrating the 24th National Day," he said.
Meanwhile, in the international
category, a visually impaired student from Australia, Nicholas
Charles Parson, 21, emerged as the winner. Han Ziao, 23, from China
was second and Alena Bykova, 19, from Russia was third. -- Courtesy of Borneo
