16 Cases Of Road Violation Recorded

Bandar Seri Begawan - Sixteen cases of road violations were recorded in a routine roadblock along the Tutong highway conducted by the Royal Brunei Police Force last Thursday evening.

The roadblock, led by Acting ACP Pg Hj Abdul Wahab Pg Hj Omar who is also the acting head of the Operations Department, involved 43 police officers from the Department of Investigation and Traffic Control, said Chief Inspector Pg Hj Saifuddien Pg Hj Mohd Salleh.

The routine operation was conducted from 11pm until 3 in the early hours of yesterday's morning. Out of the 16 cases, eight were of illegal modification of cars while the rest were cases possessing of expired road tax and driving with-, out a licence.

According to the Chief Inspector Pg Hj Saifuddien, the area is prone to accidents where the speed limit is 100 km per hour, but which some road users failed to adhere to.

Commenting on the effectiveness of the newly erected police post at the area in deterring errand roadusers, the chief inspector said that "some have slowed down but there are a few drivers who ignore the speed limit which is why we try to conduct speed traps along the area." Police cautioned motorists to drive under the speed limit as they can expect more speed traps and roadblocks to come.-- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
