National Day Joint Op Nets
Immigration Offenders

Begawan - Nine immigration offenders including eight
Indonesians and one Bangladeshi national, and five couples without
marriage certificates, were caught in a joint operation by six local
enforcement agencies yesterday.
Ops Pintas 29/2008 (Bersepadu)
operation was led by the National Registration and Immigration
Department, headed by the Acting Assistant Director of Immigration.
The 159 personnel involved in the
operation came from: Royal Brunei Police Force (32), Internal
Security Department (23), Royal Customs and Excise (27), Narcotic
Control Bureau (9), Enforcement unit of Religious Affairs (38) and
Immigration (30).
The joint operation from 11.30pm
until 3.30am targeted rented houses and apartments in Kg Sungai
Kedayan, Kg Ujong Bukit, Kg Sumbiling Lama, JIn Bt Salila, Kg
Berangan, Jln Sungai Kianggeh and Jln Roberts.
Conducted in conjunction with the
24th National Day, the operation aimed to safeguard the country and
to raise cooperation between the involved enforcement agencies.
Starting Feb 11, the Immigration
Department has already conducted numerous operations in conjunction
with the National Day.
The National Registration and
Immigration Department thanked members of the public for information
on any immigration offenders and urged the public to report to the
