Bandar Seri Begawan - Two UBD researchers, Ms Ang Bee Biaw and Dk Haslina Pg Razali, will be in Japan from Feb 24 to March Ito attend a special training programme under the Brunei Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (BJEPA).

Both researchers will spend four days at Hokkaido Research Centre, Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute in Sapporo, Japan. Ms Ang Bee will be taking the DNA analysis for genotyping small mammals while Ms Haslina willbe learning the latest use of genetic techniques to assist their research activities in Brunei. Both will get the chance to visit the Science Museum and have a discussion with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

They paid a courtesy call on Mr. Hashimoto Itsuo, Ambassador of Japan in Brunei yesterday.

Although Hokkaido is very cold now, I hope that you will have meaningful training in Japan. I strongly wish that your experience in Japan will assist your further researches in Brunei, and thus contribute to development of Brunei biology and the future diversification of the Brunei economy," said the Japanese ambassador. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
