Cawangan B1 Police Champion

Bandar Seri Begawan - Cawangan B1 emerged as the champions of the Royal Brunei Police Force Football League when they defeated Cawangan C1 2-1 in a thrilling final at Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium, Police Headquarter, Gadong yesterday.

Cawangan B 1 took a first half lead through L/Cpl 2765 Muhd Nadzrin in his No 8 jersey taking his tally to seven goals in the tournament.

After the restart, Cawangan Cl immediately levelled the game 1-1 in style with a spectacular goal from PC 4378 Mahadi Suhardi.

But it was PC 4339 Hamdi of Cawangan B1, his seventh goal in the league who rose up to the occasion to head in the winner in the 75th minute to win 2-1.

In the semifinals, Cawangan B 1 snatched a 4-2 win against Cawangan A2 while Cawangan C1 beat Cawangan A1 in a narrow 2-1 win.

The top scorer in the league was PC 4828 Jasriman of Cawangan A2 who had eight goals under his belt.

Cawangan A1 finished third after beating Cawangan A2 6-2 in the third place playoff.

The guest-of-honour Pehin Dam Kenna Setia Dato Paduka Seri Commissioner Police Zainuddin bin Jalani gave away the prizes to the winners.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
