Contest To Find Best Speaker On Translations Of Al-Quran

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Pengiran Bendahara Lama Religious School in Kg Ayer yesterday became the venue for a competition of a talk on translations of the Quran for boys and girls in its selection round.

In attendance were Hjh Norah Hj Tamat, Assistant Islamic Studies Officer of Brunei I, and the headmasters of religious schools, organising committee members and participants.

The judges comprised Cikgu Hjh MohdAslenanHj Metussin, Cikgu Sufian Hj Suhaili, Cikgu Arrifin Hj Duraman, Cikgu YusriYusof, Cikgu Hjh Saripah Hj Jamudin, Cikgu Hjh Asmah Hj Suhaili, Cikgu Mariahyati Othman and Cikgu Hjh Siti Arbi Hj Othman.

In the boys' section, the overall winner was Md Amirul Husni Zaini of Raja Isteri Fatimah Religious c fhool, followed by Abd Wafi Abd Rahman from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Religious School and Habibulah Muiz Hj Mohammad of Pengiran Bendahara Lama Religious School in second and third places respectively.

In the category for girls, the winner was Raihanah Md Noor of Pengiran Di-Gadong Haji Salleh Religious School, followed by Dk Nurhazirah Pg Hj Duraman from Pintu Malim Religious School and Siti Nurul Afifah Hj Zaidin of Pelambayan Religious School in second and third places respectively. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
