Walkers Crisps Products Recalled

Begawan - Walker Snacks Foods Ltd has announced the recall of
some date codes of Walkers Crisps as some products might contain
pieces of yellow rubber, the Ministry of Health said.
The Ministry said products affected
are Walkers Crisps and Walkers Max of various flavours and packaging
with "best before" dates of March 15, 2008 and March 22, 2008.
These items include Walkers Max 50o
pack — Cheese and Onion, Paprika; Walkers Crisps standard 34.5o
single packs—Ready Salted, Cheese and Onion, Salt and Vinegar, Smoky
Bacon, Worcester Sauce, Steak and Onion, Marmite; Walkers Crisps 50g
'Big Bag' single packs —Ready Salted, Cheese and Onion, Steak and
Onion; Walkers Crisps 175g pack —Ready Salted; Walkers Crisps
Barbecue 6-pack supplied in Half Opti cases to retailer (18
multi-packs per case); Walkers Crisps Salt and Vinegar 6-pack,
Variety 6-pack, Ready Salted 6-pack, Cheese and Onion 6-pack, Smoky
Bacon 6-pack supplied in Full Opti cases to retailers (36
multi-packs per case); Walkers Crisps Cheese and Onion and Ready
Salted 6-pack Transport Ready Display Unit (1SKU); Walker Crisps
Cheese and Onion 14-pack, Ready Salted 14-pack, Variety 14-pack;
Walkers Crisps Variety 24-pack supplied to retailers in Transport
Ready Display Unit Walker Crisps Cheese and Onion 26-pack, \laity
26-pack and Walkers Crisps Variety 26-pack supplied to retailers in
Transport Ready Display Units.
As a precautionary measure, the
Ministry of Health will be carrying out inspections at supermarkets
to ensure the abovementioned products are not sold and imported into
the country.
The Ministry of Health also advised
all importers and retailers to recall the affected products (if any)
from the market and surrender them to the Food Safety and Quality
Control-Division, Department of Health Services or Health Offices at
any district to be destroyed.
Consumers who have bought the said
products should return them to the respective supermarkets or
surrender them to the Food Safety and Quality Control Division,
Department of Health Services or Health .Offices at any district.
The Ministry reminded the public
that it is an offence under Section 9( 1)— (i) Public Health (Food
Act), (Chapter 182) to prepare, sell or import any food that is
injurious to health, and the penalty for such an offence, upon
conviction is five years' imprisonment or a fine or both.
