Minister's Home From Aviation Meet

Begawan – The minister of Communications has returned to the
country after attending the Singapore Aviation Leadership Summit to
deliberate issues in managing safety, security and environmental
challenges in the Asian aviation industry.

Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Abu Bakar also attended the
Singapore Airshow 2008, Asia's largest aerospace and defence event
from February 19-24, according to the ministry's press release.
The air show is one of the top
three air shows in the world and serves as a global marketplace
showcasing the latest technologies and aircraft equipment, as well
as a networking platform for the military and civil aviation
community. Royal Brunei Technical Services is also participating in
the airshow as an exhibitor.

Dato Hj Abu Bakal also met Dr Lee Boon Yang, Singapore's Minister
for Information, Communicaions and Arts to discuss ways on
strengthening cooperation between Brunei and Singapore in the
Information Communications Technology (KT) sector.
While in the city state, the
minister also made working visits to the Media Development Authority
and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.
The latter was created in 2003 to
develop the country into a vibrant global media city and a creative
economy and a connected society.
The Infocomm Development Authority
of Singapore functions to encourage effective competition in the
telecommunications market and monitors local and global infocomm
market trends to ensure that policies and regulatory frameworks
remain effective and relevant.
The Aviation Leadership Summit saw
International Air Transport Association Director General Giovannie
Bisignani sharing findings on growth in Asia's aviation industry,
whereby the sector supports 10.5 million jobs and generated US$807
