UBD To Hold Information Week On February 25

Bandar Seri Begawan - Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Library will be organising its fourth UBD Information Week 2008 at the Chancellor Hall, UBD from February 25 to March 1.

Themed `Information and Intellectual Development', the event will focus on current issues and matters pertaining to information and knowledge.

It is aimed at creating awareness on the importance of information to support academic, personal, organisational and national needs, as well as to nurture the resources for the preservation of knowledge heritage.

At the opening ceremony, the launching of Electronic Resources and Databases, subscribed under the Ministry of Education Digital Library VILIS Brunei Initiative Project, will be held. After the launching, the Electronic Resources and Databases will be widely accessible to all academic institutions in the Sultanate.

Events organised in conjunction with UBD Information Week 2008 include a seminar on electronic resources (facilitated by several Information Product Specialists from abroad), a three-day workshop on Information Literacy Concept Models, exhibitions on library services, Information Products and Book Fair, Information Quiz, prize presentation for top users of e-library@UBD Portal and a Fast Food Fair.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
