UBD Holds Seminar On Sexual
Deviation

Begawan - The Syariah Department of Institut Pengajian Islam
Sultan Hj Omar Ali Saifuddien (IPSOAS) yesterday held a seminar on "Fiqh
Semasa", which among other things explored the root of sexual
deviation from an Islamic perspective.
The guest of honour, Prof Madya Dr
Hj Mohamad @ Md Som bin Sujimon, hoped that the one day talk at the
Senate Room of UBD, would give participants some idea on ways to
address social ills in the country.
A number of working papers were
presented yesterday. One of them was by Datin Hjh Adina binti Othman
of the Community Development Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth
and Sports, who touched on a number of factors that cause decline in
moral standards such as dysfunctional families and lack of religious
education.
Other speakers included: Dr Hj
Abdurrahman Raden Aji Haqqi, a lecturer from IPSOAS' Syariah
Department; P/ASP Pg Hjh Napiah binti Hj Asli from the Crime
Investigation Department, Royal Brunei Police Force; Prof Dr Omar
Hasan Kibirige Kasule from the Institute of Medicine UBD; Pg Hj Md
Tashim bin Pg Hj Hassan from Syariah Appeal Court; and, Dr Hji Siti
Noor Azmah binti Abdullah, Senior Medical Officer, Gynaecology and
Obstetrics, RIPAS Hospital.
Earlier, a welcoming speech was
delivered by the secretary of organising committee responsible for
the seminar, Dr Nurol Huda binti PDSMDSU Dr Hj Ismail, the Head of
