Zikir Makes Us Closer To Allah SWT
By Anna Mau Bakar
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A delegation from the Ministry of Religious Affairs
was at the Sufri Bolkiah Mosque in Kampung Perpindahan Burong Pingai,
Berakas, yesterday as part of a series of visits to mosques in the
country.
The officers were led by the
Religious Affairs Minister, Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Data
Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Hj Mohd Zain Hj Serudin.
The purpose of the visit, an
initiative of the ministry via its Mosque Affairs Department, was to
promote the practice of Zikir Ratib Al-Attas among Muslims in the
country.
The initiative is in response to
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's
call to make the sultanate a 'zikir country'.
It is also hoped that the public
will be able to integrate zikir as a way in forming a closer bond
with Allah (SWT).
In addition, it is also considered
an effort by the Ministry of Religious Affairs to encourage mosques
to carry out more religious activities for their congregation and to
further glorify the place of worship.
The event began with mass Maghrib
prayers, followed by the recital of the Holy Quran.
The recital of the Ratib Al-Attas
was led by Hj Asminan Chuchu, an officer from the Mosque Affairs
Department.
One of the benefits of reciting the
Ratib Al-Attas is to invoke blessings from Allah (SWT) and to ask
for protection from oneself, families and property from unwanted
circumstances.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs
officials are also expected to make a visit to Kampung Perpindahan
Serasa on February 20.

invited to attend the religious function. -- Courtesy of
